Kelvin's Name[]

I understand this page is somewhat contentious when it comes to Kelvin's real name, but if he has 3 separate nicknames according to game files and the console, should we just change this:
His full name is presumed to be Robby Kelvin, as he often appears in the game files as Rob or Robbie.
to something like this:
His first name is presumed to be Robert, as he appears in the game files as Rob or Robbie and in the game console as Robby.
Apologies if I'm not using this talk page correctly, if you see this let me know what you think. I'd just like the page to be a little more consistent. NeedMorePuppies (talk) 20:52, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

On my part I don't mind but I just don't understand where Robert come from lol.

With regards to the "Robert" thing, Rob, Robbie, and Robby are all common nicknames for the name Robert, and I think that that's a very small leap to make in regards to his name, compared to (not to throw shade at anyone) the assumption that Kelvin is his last name when Fisheye is clearly not the last name of the other fella in the helicopter. Just saying "we can presume his name is Robert" also reads better than "we can presume his name is Rob, Robbie, or Robby." It just seems logical to me. Sure, if it makes others happy, I don't mind. As for me, I see Kelvin as Kelvin, It is possible that the character simply chose his own name as a code name, especially considering his foolish nature. Anyway do it if you must I guess

I agree, he's my little Kelvin, but if people want to speculate as to his real name I figure we should be as logical as possible about it. NeedMorePuppies (talk) 21:54, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

I agree, It wont hurt anyone and it's funnier that way. :)

As a side note, do you think we should continue referring to the game's trailers in articles? As in, "Kelvin appeared in blah-blah-blah trailer."? I feel like they're not really relevant, since 1) they don't represent the state of the game currently, nor will they in the future as the game is developed, and 2) the game is out, so the trailers are no longer the main source of content for "experiencing" the items, characters, and locations referenced. I have half a mind to simply start removing many of the trailer references from articles, since they were used mostly for speculation before the game released but now we have more concrete information to go off of. References to the trailers was a holdover from before major work got started on this wiki. Before the game's release it was a pretty barren wasteland of speculation and trailer analysis. It'll slowly get weeded out from time to time, but if you see anything, anything at all, that is purely speculation based on the trailers, and there is in-game evidence to either support or refute the speculation, please don't hesitate to fix it! Thank you!

Honestly yes, however it will take time.

Kelvin behavior[]

Kelvin, when fatigued, will periodically rest by lying down before continuing his work. It is essential to treat him well by providing adequate breaks via the "Take a Break" command and avoiding leading him into combat too often. Poor treatment will lead to his displeasure, resulting in decreased productivity and reduced value to the protagonist. Kelvin will drink from nearby fresh water sources and feed on wild berry bushes or player structures.

Similar to Virginia, Kelvin's affinity can be raised, but it won't impact his behavior. Instead, he operates on a stamina system, becoming less productive as he works for extended periods without breaks.

I haven't come across this system in the game and I'm uncertain about this being actually a thing. Please add sources or come in the oficial discord so we can talk about it. So for the time being, it will be removed.

Bug: Chopping down treehouse bases[]

Can anyone confirm that this has been fixed? I recall reading in the last big update that this has been fixed, but I haven't seen it tested. If anyone is confident that he doesn't do this anymore, feel free to remove that bug from the article. NeedMorePuppies (talk) 22:11, 12 March 2023 (UTC)

Kelvin shaking his head[]

Kelvin will come to the player at seemingly random intervalls and shake his head. Ive found out that you can trigger this by nodding yourself (just move your mouse up and down really hard) Why is this?

Kelvin behaviors[]

If nodded at, Kelvin will nod back to the player.

When playing the guitar while looking at Kelvin, Kelvin will shake his head, likely to signify that he's unable to hear the song.

When encountering cannibals or mutants while holding something, Kelvin will likely drop the items. If he's delivering the items to a storage, he will usually only pick up a few of them. It's not known if this is related to the brain damage or not.

It's implied that Kelvin has an affinity for seafood, as he can gather fish and has a fish-related recipe called "The Kelvin Special."

Kelvin prefers relaxing close to fires. He prefers to lay down rather than sit, even if a chair is available.

The way Kelvin walks and nods/shakes his head using his whole body may be attributed to his brain damage affecting his motor skills.
