The Shotgun is a ranged weapon that can be found at 1 location in Sons of the Forest.
Description[]
It is a compact pump-action shotgun with a short barrel and pistol grip. It has an 8 round capacity and can fire either buckshot or slugs. Firing buckshot, it is the most powerful non-explosive weapon in the game as long as all the pellets connect and can kill most tougher mutants such as Fingers, Twins, or Blue Puffys in just 2-3 shots. Slugs fire a single projectile that deals comparable damage to a Rifle bullet.
It can be obtained by digging up the Operative's Grave marked on the map by a GPS tracker. The shotgun can be upgraded with an attachment rail and a Flashlight or Laser Sight. Unlike the pistol, it cannot mount the flashlight and laser sight both at the same time.
Shotgun after Solafite transformation[]

Sulfite upgrade of normal and maxed Shotgun.
The Shotgun can be upgraded with 6 solafite, and the result is Golden Looking Shotgun with minor damage increase.
Manual of Arms[]
- The shotgun uses Shotgun Shells.
- Look down and press R to change ammo types, similar to the bow.
- You can mount a laser / flashlight to the side of the rail, so long as you can find a rail to attach to the shotgun.
- The attachments originally would go ontop, which would obstruct the sight usage.
- You can alternatively give this to Virginia - provided you have a good bond with her.

Trivia[]
- The Shotgun is an accurate representation of a Remington 870 TAC-14 12 gauge shotgun.
- The Shotgun has a higher capacity than a real TAC-14 however, having 8 shots compared to a real TAC-14's 4+1 capacity.
Shotgun with and without Shotgun Rail.
The Shotgun was most likely the weapon of choice by this operative to repel the breach of the mutants. A theory towards why he is in there is that the cannibals bury him with his Shotgun to prevent other Operatives from using it, due to its firepower. However, due to the cross on the grave, it is likely indicative that other Operatives made this grave for him. Why they buried him with the Shotgun instead of using it themselves is questionable, albeit honorable.
