A sleek, powerful and lightning fast weapon that makes up for its lack of blocking power with speed. It has both favorable and unfavorable attributes and not everyone enjoys the katana because of that. The katana in this game seems to be slightly improved over its previous version. It is much more capable of severing limbs than any other melee weapon, even before your opponent is dead.
Location[]
The Katana can be found at the south-eastern green point of interest in the Residential Bunker. As you progress through this cave and its underlying structure, the Katana can be located on Level 2 in the center of the third room, on a traditional katana holder. Key card is needed for access.

Gameplay[]
It's a fierce and fast attacking weapon that can cut down even fully armoured opponents in seconds. It's generally considered the go-to melee weapon for close combat, if you can consistently dodge your opponents attacks. Strafing around opponents seems to be the best strategy as opposed to standing still. The range of which lies between that of the modern axe and spear.
Appearance[]
The blade itself is similar to the Katana found in the prequel game, 'The Forest', however the handle has been changed to black.
Summary[]
While the katana displays similar potency to the modern axe in terms of damage output, it outperforms the latter in attack speed. Nonetheless, the defensive attributes of this weapon cannot rival those of the modern axe. Overall, it's a great weapon to have in the players possession.

Katana can be upgraded with 6 solafite, and the result is Golden Looking Katana with significant damage increase.
Trivia[]
- Despite the katana having barely any defense on block, it is still possible to negate all damage via parrying enemies, effectively removing its only downside if you were able to do so in quick succession while fighting.
