The Crossbow is a ranged weapon found in Sons of the Forest that uses Crossbow Bolts as ammunition.
Description[]
It is a black, compound crossbow, seemingly based off of the "Man Kung MK-XB52BK Compound Crossbow." It deals roughly 50% more damage compared to the Rifle and deals the second highest per-shot damage of all the game's non-explosive weapons, with only the Shotgun dealing more damage.
A flashlight or laser pointer can be attached to the accessory rail on top of the crossbow, but this will interfere with aiming-down-sights. The flashlight leaves a small gap above the iron sights so the crossbow is still useable with it attached, albeit with a much reduced sight picture. Conversely, the laser pointer completely blocks the iron sights and makes it effectively impossible to aim the crossbow, especially since the crossbow cannot be fired from the hip.

The crossbow can be found next to a corpse in the hydroponics section of the Food and Dining Bunker, and needs at least a maintenance keycard to access. Its location can be indicated by the crossbow bolts seen stuck in the wall.
The crossbow bolts in the wall, the corpse and the mutant in the room ahead indicate a fight before the Person's Death. The Person using the Crossbow must have survived the breach of the mutants for quite some time, as you can find many bolts all over the island. Most likely he was a member of the maintenance team.
